  5. To establish lifestyles center for the Community based on education for health.

Rationale

The dramatic changes in world population, resource utilization and energy consumption hold major implications for the environment. Virtually every aspect of Earth's eco-system and resource base is currently affected, threatening the continual survival of the human race and all life, as we know it. Ultimately, this Earth can be saved by humankind only if people are prepared to live with nature rather than upon nature. We need to put the "eco" back into economics.

The Center encompasses a new approach. In friendly collaboration with existing industry and commerce, we look to our human resources and will develop practical opportunities for industry to develop new environmentally friendly products. Through our applied 'think tanks', positive ways of marketing environmentally safe products will be enhanced. Our emphasis is on co-operation innovation, viewing entrenched problems from a new perspective and deriving practical answers rather than just talking.

Beyond this, The Centre intends to enhance the process of global change in a way, which recognises the sacredness of the human psyche and consciousness, the integrity of the community and the sacredness of life itself. It is a process, which by its very nature, is qualitive in that it is dealing with values, which lie, at the heart of true humanity. The Centre stresses the life sciences with particular reference to conventional and holistic medicine, psychotherapy, social psychology, family therapy, mind/body/spirit interaction, the science of consciousness, nutrition, psychoneuroimmunlogy and the arts, humanities and science.

Whilst the future cannot be predicted, "future knowledge" generated by five conferences over the next ten years should produce on-going action, new ways of thinking and a real agenda for change. This will be assisted by a Global Information Data Bank, to be set up by The Centre as an international networking resource. (www.peace-era.com)

"When I went to the Moon, I was as pragmatic a test pilot engineer and scientist as any one of my colleagues… but there was another aspect to my experience during Apollo 14…The first thing that came to mind as I looked as Earth was its incredible beauty…I knew that life in the Universe was not just an accident based on random processes. But still as real as the objective data upon which say the navigational programme was based".Edgar Mitchell (Astronaut, supporter of The Centre)
