Ten Things You Can Do......

The war has started. The struggle continues.
All over the world, there is grief, sorrow, fear, and anger.
We must show determination, and vision.
We must move on, beyond war.
We can win without war.
We are united for peace.

"Now there are two superpowers: the US and the merging voice of the people of the world. All around the world, people are waging peace. It is nothing short of a miracle, and it is working - despite what you may see unfolding right now in the news."
- Dr. Robert Muller

We are at war with a silent army, that we do not even recognize, and that we are now on an extinction curve faster than at any time since the extinction of the dinosaurs, 65 million years ago.

10 Things You Can Do Right Now, when War has Started by Guy Dauncey

1. Take to the streets. "Scream until your throat bleeds. Call whatever congressional leaders you know, full in the knowledge that you will be contacting a mob of failures, appeasers and political cowards. Make sure you can look at yourself in the mirror as this darkness falls. Above all else, do not succumb to despair. You owe that much to yourself, your children and your nation as we fade to black." - William Rivers Pitt. See - http://truthout.org/docs_03/031903A.shtm

3. Tell all your friends. We are millions. We need to become hundreds of millions.
This is not just about stopping this war - it is about the way we stop all future wars.
This is the first war ever when the world has mobilized in such a huge way before the war even started.
This is the first war where we have had such wide access to the Internet.
Now we can speak.
Now we can mobilize.
Now we can end all wars.

"Recognition of one-ness of life on earth, of its beauty and its sanctity, must be spread by an almost messianic revolution..." "Perhaps a call would be the sort of World Conference which you envisage, a call not only to man’s intellect, his comprehension and reasoning power, but also to the driving force of his underlying spirituality, his ability to care for others, for other forms of life, for the earth as his home and his responsibility".
Sir Mark Oliphant, founded The Pugwash Conference with Albert Einstein and Bertrand Russell. personal communication

we are at war with a silent army, that we do not even recognize, and that we are now on an extinction curve faster than at any time since the extinction of the dinosaurs, 65 million years ago.

As Erickson has said, "the possibility of a species wide destruction creates for the first time the necessity of a species wide ethic".

The Muslim Iraq was attacked by two Protestant permanent Security Council members opposed by the other three, one secular/Catholic, one secular/Orthodox and one Confucian. The attack started on one of the holiest sites of shia Islam, Karbala, even on the day, spring solstice 2003, when Hussein ibn Ali, Mohammed's grandson, was decapitated in the Sunni-Shia battle and became shia Islam's martyr. The US command even referred to their attack as "decapitation", based on a hint as to where Saddam Hussein, the head of Iraq, might be hiding. In the wake of the US military came Christian fundamentalist missionaries to convert, and political missionaries to impose a separation between church and state, the sacred and the secular, contrary to the Islamic faith that they are inseparable. There may be a road to democracy via the mosque and the ulema (the community of legal scholars of Islam ) but that was not the road traveled by the USA. Nor by Saddam Hussein.

This encapsulates the problem. What we are seeing is a myth embedded deeply in the psychic structure of Hunmankind. The Clash is between 2 mighty civilisations both monotheistic ---- one judeo-christian the other Islam.

There is indeed a Global War between Extremists marked on one side by by Pax Americana and on the other by he terrorist Islamic extremists who aim to strike at the economic hubs of our Western World.

We currently live in a global political system, which has changed from the polarisation of USA vs USSR to a monopolar order completed after September 11th. The monopolar system is not sustainable by definition.

The process which is known today as globalisation is a mono-polarisation. A genuine globalisation is the transformation of our globalised world to a cooperative, united, human family.

There is, perhaps, an inherent human inability to foresee long-range consequences. Partly this is due to the fact that the elites in large-scale societies continue to prosper long after the environment and the common people begin to suffer

Our world faces a global threat - the danger of ecological catastrophe, which threatens equally every human being, every nation and every social group. We live in a time of runaway growth in human population, consumption, and technology, placing a colossal load on all natural systems, especially earth, air, and water--the very elements of life.

The contradictory interests of a multitude of cultures and nations often camouflage and confuse the problems we are facing

Our beliefs and the way we construct reality have a tremendous influence on how we create the biosphere and our global civilisation. We need to use our religions, faith and beliefs to enhance the values we place on human life and our core need as a human family for cooperation and interdependence.

The economic interdependence of the world today means that collapse, if it occurs , will be global. Ideology of any sort - Islamic, Christian, Marxist, or market fundamentalist - will push us all the faster toward that collapse.

Only "moderation and the precautionary principle" can save us.

If the future is to be positive, and if we are to restore the planet to a condition which is sustainable, we need to take into account our hearts and minds and the unfulfilled potential of the human psyche.

The primary aim of the Cente For Change is to create an international forum of like-minded groups and signatories who will vote for a worldwide consensus of what we really want for our future. The future is in the hearts and minds of those ordinary citizens who wish to create and live in a better world.
